New Appointments

Wednesday, February 27, 2008 – St. Peter Port, Guernsey – Tethys Petroleum Limited (“Tethys” or the “Company”) (TSX: TPL) today announced that Piers Johnson would join the Board as an independent Non-Executive Director at the beginning of April of this year. He will also join the Company’s Audit Committee.

Piers Johnson is an experienced petroleum engineer with over 25 years experience in the oil and gas sector throughout the world. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Former Chairman of the London Section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and is a visiting lecturer at the Institute Francais du Petrol in Paris. Piers is the founder and Managing Director of Oilfield Production Consultants (OPC) Limited, a Petroleum and Reservoir Engineering Consultancy specialising in Operational Procedures, Integrated Studies, Wellsite Supervision and Well Test Analysis. Prior to this he was with Flopetrol Johnston Schlumberger as a well test supervisor, location manager and District Sales Engineer (Asia.) He performed over 100 production tests on onshore and offshore wells as well as carrying out well test interpretation and production logging. With OPC Piers has been involved in project evaluations, production planning, well test analysis and development planning in many parts of the world including the former Soviet Union, Far East, Africa and the North Sea.

It was also announced the Board has elected Sabin Rossi to the position of Vice President Investor Relations, effective immediately. Sabin was previously Investor Relations Manager, and this promotion reinforces the Company’s commitment to effective and focused communication with the investor community.

Tethys is focused on oil and gas exploration and production activities in Central Asia with activities currently in the Republic of Kazakhstan and more recently the Republic of Tajikistan. This highly prolific oil and gas area is rapidly developing and Tethys believes that significant potential exists in both exploration and in discovered deposits.
