PETER PORT, GUERNSEY, Dec 01, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX News Network) — Tethys Petroleum Limited (“Tethys” or the “Company” (TSX: TPL)) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ian Philliskirk as the Company’s General Counsel. Ian will take up his position once he has served the relevant notice period with his current employer. He will be responsible for all legal and associated matters within the Tethys Group of Companies related to current and future exploration and development contracts, sales contracts, acquisitions and disposals, financings, corporate compliance etc. Ian will also become a Vice President of the Company and, as a member of the senior management team, will be closely involved in the further development of the Company’s business.
Ian joins the Company from the UK law firm, Pinsent Masons LLP, where he is currently a Director based in London and responsible for the energy sector with particular focus on the oil and gas industry. Prior to joining Pinsent Masons, Ian was Group Legal Manager and Company Secretary of the Emirates National Oil Company (“ENOC”) in Dubai, a company with substantial assets in all sectors of the oil and gas industry including exploration and production, refining and marketing, terminaling, shipping, gas and LPG, and the retail sector. He was Legal Advisor and Company Secretary of Dragon Oil plc, a public oil and gas exploration and production company operating in Turkmenistan and Yemen. Ian also has experience of working in other industry sectors including work in the Caspian Region, and has also served in the Treasury Solicitors. Ian holds a LL.B (Hons) degree from University College, London and is a Barrister of Lincoln’s Inn, having been called to the Bar in 1993.
