Oil & Gas Uzbekistan (OGU) – 2012

The OGU Conference took place alongside the exhibition on 16 – 17 May 2012 at the InterContinental Hotel in Tashkent. 58 senior-level speakers presented to over 474 local and international oil and gas professionals. A roundtable entitled ‘The Impact of Energy Exports from Central Asia on the Prospects of Political and Economic Development of the Region’ also took place on 15 June 2012. Leading industry experts discussed the state of the current resource base and the prospects for energy exports from Central Asia.

OGU 2012’s opening ceremony featured speech from Gulomjon Ibragimov, Deputy Prime Minister. Gulomjon Ibragimov discussed the real progress made in Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry, including: the opening of 110 fields, the construction of facilities for major oil and gas processing and petrochemical products, along with the achievements of several key projects.

The 16th Uzbekistan International Oil & Gas Conference attracted 474 local and international delegates. Modernisation of Uzbekistan’s oil and gas industry was a key topic, with many speakers highlighting the importance of developing close cooperation between Uzbekneftegaz and major international oil and gas companies.

There were two speakers from Tethys Petroleum Limited presenting at the OGU 2012: Dr. David Robson, Executive Chairman and President, talking about the role of independents in developing Uzbekistan’s oil and gas deposits. Rosemary Johnson Sabine, Vice President Exploration with a presentation on the potential of the North Ustyurt Basin of Uzbekistan.
