GUERNSEY, BRITISH ISLES–(Marketwired – Dec 5, 2013) -Tethys Petroleum Limited (“Tethys”) (TPL.TO) (TPL.L), the oil and gas exploration and production company focused on Central Asia and the Caspian Region, today announced that Bernard Murphy, Chief Financial Officer and Finance Director, has notified the Board of his intention to retire at the end of January 2014 after 7 years with the Company. He will be replaced by Denise Lay, currently Deputy Chief Financial Officer, who has been with the Company since 2009.
Mr Murphy commented, “While I consider it a privilege to have worked with such a talented group of people dedicated to the success of Tethys, I feel that I have reached an age when it is time to focus on some personal non-career objectives. I would state that having worked closely with Denise for the last four years I have little doubt that she and her team will be more than capable of meeting both the current and future challenges as the Company pursues its ambitions.”
Dr David Robson, Executive Chairman and President of Tethys, commented:
“I would like to thank Bernard for his contribution to the Company since he joined in 2006. He has been a great asset to the Board and has had a significant impact on the Company’s establishment as a public company and its continued development over the past 7 years. We wish him well in his retirement.
“Denise Lay has been with the Company since 2009. Her upcoming appointment as CFO and Finance Director marks another step in our ongoing succession planning process, and is in recognition of the vital role she has played since joining the Company. I would like to congratulate Denise on her promotion and take this opportunity to welcome her to her new role, which she will take up at the end of January. As we strive to continue to build on Tethys’ success, I’m confident Denise will provide strong financial, operational and strategic leadership.”
